Horton’s Kids to Continue as CityTutor Hub

Tutor helps student with worksheet

Horton’s Kids launched one of the first CityTutor Hubs in 2021 and will continue operating from Horton’s Kids new hub site in DC’s Ward 8, near the Wellington Park and Stanton Oaks neighborhoods this year. Horton’s Kids is deeply embedded in neighborhoods in southeast DC that have experienced decades of disinvestment. They provide extensive academic enrichment, structured social/emotional learning opportunities, and family support services.

Erica Ahdoot, Executive Director of Horton’s Kids, said the organization is committed to supporting the whole child. “Our second year as a Hub will support the continuation of a vibrant learning environment where students can come to strengthen their academic skills, eat a healthy meal, and engage positively with peers and adults.”

About Horton’s Kids

Horton’s Kids believes circumstance should not dictate a child’s future, and that every child should graduate from high school ready to succeed in college, career, and life. The organization provides a research-based continuum of academic, youth development, family engagement, and health & wellness support designed to level the playing field for children and help them succeed.
