Higher Achievement DC To Continue as CityTutor Hub

Tutor gives student a "high-five" while working on writing

Higher Achievement DC launched as one of the first CityTutor Hubs in 2021 and will continue tutoring students at Meridian Public Charter Middle School in DC’s Ward 1 this school year. They will also expand their Hub to service students at Ida B. Wells Middle School in Ward 4.

Higher Achievement has a proven model of helping middle school students make successful transitions to high school. Their Hub will continue their partnership with Cignition to provide high-impact virtual math tutoring, along with its youth development and mentoring activities.

Lindsey Jeffries, CEO of Higher Achievement’s DC Metro program, feels confident that continuing their partnership with CityTutor DC will help them to prepare middle school students for successful futures by sparking deep engagement in learning and ultimately placement in college preparatory high schools and honors classes.

“Data shows high-impact tutoring is a proven intervention and our participation as a CityTutor Hub helped us integrate the standards into our existing model for the 2021-22 program year,” Jeffries said. “We are looking forward to building on our successes and lessons learned at our Ward 1 site and expanding as a CityTutor DC Hub to our Ward 4 site at Ida B. Wells Middle School to serve and support more scholars this year.”
