Horton’s Kids will launch one of the first CityTutor Hubs, operating Horton’s Kids community service centers in the Wellington Park and Stanton Oaks neighborhoods in DC’s Ward 8. Horton’s Kids is deeply embedded in neighborhoods in southeast DC that have experienced decades of disinvestment, by providing extensive academic enrichment, structured social/emotional learning opportunities, and family support services.
Erica Ahdoot, Executive Director of Horton’s Kids, said the organization’s holistic approach would result in a CityTutor Hub that integrates literacy interventions with school partnerships and family engagement.
“We are excited to join other partners and thought leaders in DC to provide high-impact tutoring as a CityTutor Hub,” Ahdoot said. “These connections will strengthen the city’s learning recovery efforts and position Horton’s Kids’ students for success.”
