About CTDC

Our Coalition

CityTutor DC partners with 90+ schools, tutoring providers, colleges/universities, and community-based organizations to expand the scope and impact of quality tutoring opportunities for DC’s students. We aim to support Kindergarten through 12th grade public school students with high-impact tutoring.

DC Public and Public Charter Schools

CityTutor DC has supported nearly half of DC’s public and public charter schools both in their design work to integrate HIT into their school schedules and in building connections with provider partners.

Design Sprint

Our Design Sprints are a multi-week learning series that support school teams in designing and implementing high-impact tutoring into their intervention work during the school day. We have had 80 schools participate in Design Sprints thus far.

CityTutor Hubs

What are CityTutor Hubs?

CityTutor Hubs are after school sites run by community-based organizations where DC students can receive HIT in addition to other non-academic supports for their overall well-being (i.e. sports, art, music, etc.). CityTutor DC collaborates with the Hubs, providing funding, training, tools, and support to ensure Hubs are successful in their service to DC students. The community-based organizations build on their trusting relationships with students, families, and communities to create engaging, safe environments for learning and growth.

Why CityTutor Hubs?

After CityTutor DC consulted with various partners, families, and other stakeholders, we realized students needed options for tutoring support beyond the classroom. Washington, DC is filled with youth development community-based organizations that we felt would be powerful partners in providing students with HIT within their own communities where they already have trusting relationships and feel belonging. CityTutor DC sees this as a way to build the capacity of community-based organizations, adding research-based academic interventions to the great work they already do.
