Higher Achievement Program will launch one of the first CityTutor Hubs, tutoring students at Meridian Public Charter Middle School in DC’s Ward 1. Higher Achievement has a proven model of helping middle school students make successful transitions to high school. This CityTutor Hub features a partnership with Cignition to provide high-impact virtual math tutoring, along with its youth development and mentoring activities.

Thalia Washington, Executive Director for Higher Achievement’s DC Metro chapter, said this partnership with CityTutor DC would allow the organization to expand its programming and provide opportunities for those students traditionally furthest from them.

“High-impact tutoring is a proven intervention, and we are eager to incorporate high-quality math tutoring into our existing model with the support of CityTutor DC,” Washington said. “We aim to create a tutoring Hub that focuses on mastery of academic skills and social-emotional development at a time when we know students need support with both.”
