CityTutor DC is thrilled to release “Learnings from Transforming Teaching Pilots: A Brighter Future for Students and Teachers.” In this white paper, we share key actions and promising outcomes from the first Transforming Teaching Pilots (TTP) cohort, which included Center City Public Schools, District of Columbia Public Schools, Friendship Public Charter Schools, and DC Scholars Public Charter School.
During the 2023-24 academic year, these TTP participants explored four principles to make the teaching profession more sustainable and equitable: professional trust, shared responsibility, specialization, and workday flexibility. Their learnings illustrated a continuing need for team-based staffing strategies to support teachers and a strengthened talent pipeline.
