In their 2023-2024 analysis: “Impact of CityTutor DC High-Dosage Math Tutoring on Student Academic Growth” Empower K12 looked at the effect of high-impact tutoring as a math learning intervention on DC students.
The results: students who received a full dosage of high-impact tutoring—designed with CityTutor DC to be at least 90 minutes per week meeting multiple times for at least ten weeks—exceeded academic gains by 44% and experienced growth equal to two more months of learning, compared to their non-tutored peers.
This adds to the growing body of evidence that a well-designed, intensive tutoring program is a powerful tool for accelerating student learning and addressing academic performance gaps.
It shows our focus on continuously improving and scaling high-impact tutoring across the District is working.
